Ring sizing guide
If you’d like to get this right first time, I always recommend using a proper ring sizer rather than guessing.
I’m very happy to pop one in the post to you so you can measure at home, comfortably and without pressure.
When you’re using it:
• Slide it over your finger and adjust until it feels snug, but not tight
• Make sure it moves over your knuckle with a little resistance
• It should feel secure at the base of your finger without digging in
A small but important tip:
Be careful not to tighten the sizer once it’s past your knuckle and sitting at the base of your finger. If it’s too tight to come back over your knuckle, it’s too tight full stop. Always check that it goes on and off comfortably before settling on a size.
Your ring needs to feel secure enough that it won’t spin or slip off, but loose enough that you can remove it without a struggle.
If you’re between sizes or unsure at all, just ask. I’d always rather guide you properly than have you guessing.

Still Unsure?
If you’re at all unsure about your size, please just get in touch. I’m always happy to guide you, however all of my engagement rings benefit from a free resizing, so if it needs a slight adjustment don’t worry.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that wider bands tend to feel slightly tighter than finer ones, so this can affect the size you choose. If you’re selecting a wider design, I can advise on whether we should adjust accordingly.
Getting the fit right matters, and I’ll help you through it.

Care
Fine jewellery is made to be worn and enjoyed, but it’s still precious. A little care will help keep your pieces looking beautiful for many years to come.
For a quick clean at home, warm water with a small amount of washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush will remove everyday grease and dirt from gold, platinum, diamonds and sapphires. Let them soak for 10 minutes before brushing them to soften any built up dirt. Rinse well and gently pat dry with a soft cloth.
Please don’t use this method on softer gemstones such as emeralds or opals, as they can be damaged by soap or soaking. If you’re ever unsure, I’m always happy to advise.
Even when jewellery is high quality, it’s best to remove it for heavy manual work, gym sessions, gardening, DIY or cleaning. This helps protect the metal and keeps stones secure over time.

ETHICAL SIGNET RINGS
Signet Ring FAQ's
What hand and finger should a signet ring be worn on?
Traditionally signet rings are worn on the little finger of the non-dominant hand, which for most people is the left pinky. That said, there's no rule. Many people wear them on the ring finger as an alternative wedding band, or on whichever finger fits the look they want. The ring should sit comfortably and be sized so it doesn't spin, particularly if it carries an engraving or family seal you want to keep facing outward.
Can a signet ring be engraved with a family crest or seal?
Yes. Signet rings were originally made to be engraved with a family crest, monogram, or seal used to stamp wax. We offer personalised hand engraving, including deep reverse engraving for rings intended to be used as a working seal. If you have an existing family crest you can supply it, and if you don't, we can work with you on a monogram or bespoke design. Engraving options vary by the size and shape of the ring face, so deeper or more detailed seals suit larger faces.
What metals are signet rings available in?
My signet rings are made in 18ct yellow gold, 18ct white gold, 18ct rose gold and platinum as standard. If you would prefer a different metal such as 9ct or 14ct Gold, or Palladium this can also be done on request. Gold is the traditional choice and holds engraving well over time. Platinum is harder-wearing and naturally white, so it won't need re-plating the way some white golds can. The right choice depends on your budget, skin tone preference and how the ring will be worn day to day.
Are signet rings only for men?
No. Signet rings are worn by both men and women, and historically were worn across genders for sealing documents. Today they're popular as everyday rings, pinky rings, alternative wedding and commitment rings, and heirloom pieces passed down through families. Sizing, face shape and metal can all be chosen to suit the wearer.
Where are your signet rings made, and are they ethically sourced?
My signet rings are made in the UK using recycled 18ct gold and platinum, and any stones are responsibly sourced. Being made to order in the UK means each ring is produced individually rather than mass manufactured, which also makes it straightforward to personalise the metal, face shape, engraving and stone setting.
Can stones be set into a signet ring?
Yes. While traditional signet rings usually have a plain engraved face, stones such as diamonds and sapphires can be set directly into the face or into the shoulders of the ring. A single stone set flush into the face is a popular way to keep the classic signet shape while adding colour or sparkle, and it still leaves room for engraving around or beneath it.
We can set diamonds and a range of coloured gemstones, with the right choice depending on the face size, the metal and how hard-wearing you need the ring to be for everyday wear. If you have a specific stone in mind, including a family stone you'd like reset, I can advise on whether it suits a signet setting.
