Why Try Wedding Ring Samples?
Trying wedding ring samples at home is one of the easiest ways to feel confident before ordering. You can see how different widths look on your hand, feel the difference between profiles, and check how a band sits next to your engagement ring.
It’s especially helpful if you’re choosing between a 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm or wider wedding ring, or if you’re unsure whether you prefer a classic court, D-shape, flat court or flat profile.
Deposit and Refund Details
The sample service is charged as a deposit.
If you go ahead and order your wedding ring, the full deposit will be credited against your final order.
If you return the samples and decide not to order, your deposit will be refunded minus £10 to cover postage and packing.
Samples must be returned in the condition they were sent. If any samples or sizing tools are not returned, or are returned damaged, the cost may be deducted from your deposit.

Care
Fine jewellery is made to be worn and enjoyed, but it’s still precious. A little care will help keep your pieces looking beautiful for many years to come.
For a quick clean at home, warm water with a small amount of washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush will remove everyday grease and dirt from gold, platinum, diamonds and sapphires. Let them soak for 10 minutes before brushing them to soften any built up dirt. Rinse well and gently pat dry with a soft cloth.
Please don’t use this method on softer gemstones such as emeralds or opals, as they can be damaged by soap or soaking. If you’re ever unsure, I’m always happy to advise.
Even when jewellery is high quality, it’s best to remove it for heavy manual work, gym sessions, gardening, DIY or cleaning. This helps protect the metal and keeps stones secure over time.

Wedding Ring FAQ's
How long will it take for my Wedding ring to be made?
All Wedding Rings are crafted especially for you at Poppy Elder Fine Jewellery, this means they will take up to 3-4 weeks to be delivered to you. I would always recommend ordering your wedding ring at least 6 weeks before the big day, just in case of any last minute alterations.
If you have left it until a little close to your big day to organise rings please let me know & I can check workshop capacity to advise if we are able to meet a shorter delivery timescale than usual.
What is the best metal to choose for a Wedding Ring?
Wedding rings are a piece of jewellery that in most cases is worn everyday. This means you need something to stand up to everyday life. A silver wedding ring may give you the colour of metal that you like, however sterling silver isn't hard wearing enough to stand up to heavy wear.
If you are looking for a wedding ring which is silver in colour I would always recommend Platinum. This is because it is hard wearing, hypoallergenic, and because it is a naturally white metal it won't require maintenance to keep its bright white colour, unlike white gold which requires rhodium plating.
If you are looking for a wedding ring which is gold in colour I would suggest 18ct gold. This is because it is made from 75% pure gold, unlike 9ct gold which is only made from 37.5% pure gold, with the majority of it's ingredients made from other metals. 18ct gold has a beautiful warm colour and rarely causes any reactions to the skin.
Can I design my own Wedding ring?
All Wedding Rings created at Poppy Elder Fine Jewellery are made specifically for you. This means that you are able to make any changes to the design that you'd like, such as a different shape to fit around an Engagement ring, a wider band or even a completely new design from scratch.
Just send me an email to Hello@poppyelder.com with your ideas and I'll come back to you as soon as I can to get started on the plans for your custom wedding ring.
How wide should a Wedding Ring be?
There is no right or wrong answer to this question. The size and shape of your hands and fingers will usually give a guide as to whether something small and dainty, or wide and chunky will suit you best. But it's all down to personal preference and what suits your style.
Most ladies have a wedding ring that is either 2.0mm, 2.5mm or 3.0mm in width. This is usually to match in with the width of their engagement ring, however they don't have to be a perfect match.
Most men have a wedding ring that is either 5mm or 6mm in width. However more recently 4mm has started to become a more popular wedding ring width for men.
Do Wedding Rings need to be a matching pair?
In the past it has been common for wedding rings to be seen as being a matching pair. Thankfully this has relaxed and it is now unusual for a couple to choose a matching pair of wedding rings. You will be wearing your Wedding rings for a long time to come, so it's important to choose something that you love and that suits you.If you would like to have a element in your rings that ties the two together as a pair, without having matching rings there are ways to go this. Engraving is a lovely way to add a personal touch, you can also add matching hidden gemstones such as your partners birthstone inside your wedding ring.
