Ring sizing guide
If you’d like to get this right first time, I always recommend using a proper ring sizer rather than guessing.
I’m very happy to pop one in the post to you so you can measure at home, comfortably and without pressure.
When you’re using it:
• Slide it over your finger and adjust until it feels snug, but not tight
• Make sure it moves over your knuckle with a little resistance
• It should feel secure at the base of your finger without digging in
A small but important tip:
Be careful not to tighten the sizer once it’s past your knuckle and sitting at the base of your finger. If it’s too tight to come back over your knuckle, it’s too tight full stop. Always check that it goes on and off comfortably before settling on a size.
Your ring needs to feel secure enough that it won’t spin or slip off, but loose enough that you can remove it without a struggle.
If you’re between sizes or unsure at all, just ask. I’d always rather guide you properly than have you guessing.

Still Unsure?
If you’re at all unsure about your size, please just get in touch. I’m always happy to guide you, however all of my engagement rings benefit from a free resizing, so if it needs a slight adjustment don’t worry.
It’s also worth keeping in mind that wider bands tend to feel slightly tighter than finer ones, so this can affect the size you choose. If you’re selecting a wider design, I can advise on whether we should adjust accordingly.
Getting the fit right matters, and I’ll help you through it.

About this Purple Blue Sapphire Ring
This is one of the most unusual stones I've worked with. A colour change sapphire shifts colour depending on the light it's in. In daylight this one reads as a rich blue with purple through it, and under warmer indoor and evening light it shifts to a deeper, more distinct purple. It's a stone that rewards a second look, and it means the ring quietly changes character through the day.
The 2.45ct cushion cut sapphire sits at the centre, framed by a halo of 18 bright white diamonds, 0.38ct in total and G colour VS clarity, set in platinum to keep them crisp against the depth of the sapphire. At 8.8 by 7.2mm the stone has real presence on the hand.
Set in platinum for strength and a naturally white finish that never needs replating, this is a striking choice for someone who wants a coloured stone engagement ring that's genuinely rare and a little bit magical.
About The Sapphire
Colour change sapphires are rare. The effect happens because of the way the stone absorbs light, so it shows one colour in the cool light of day and another under warmer, artificial light. Sapphires are among the hardest gemstones after diamond, which makes them well suited to an engagement ring worn every day.
Sizing and Delivery
This ring is ready to ship and currently a finger size M. Free sizing is available, though please allow up to 10 working days for this, which will delay dispatch. If you need it sooner, or you're not sure of your size, it can also come back to me later to adjust to the perfect fit at no extra cost.
Because it's set with a one of a kind natural colour change sapphire, this exact ring can't be remade with an identical stone, so once it's gone, it's gone.
Order direct, or message me if you have any questions about the ring or sizing.

Care
Fine jewellery is made to be worn and enjoyed, but it’s still precious. A little care will help keep your pieces looking beautiful for many years to come.
For a quick clean at home, warm water with a small amount of washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush will remove everyday grease and dirt from gold, platinum, diamonds and sapphires. Let them soak for 10 minutes before brushing them to soften any built up dirt. Rinse well and gently pat dry with a soft cloth.
Please don’t use this method on softer gemstones such as emeralds or opals, as they can be damaged by soap or soaking. If you’re ever unsure, I’m always happy to advise.
Even when jewellery is high quality, it’s best to remove it for heavy manual work, gym sessions, gardening, DIY or cleaning. This helps protect the metal and keeps stones secure over time.

Any diamond that is over 0.25ct in weight that is used in an Engagement Ring at Poppy Elder Fine Jewellery will come accompanied by a GIA Certificate. This is an independently assessed certification that is carried out under laboratory conditions to verify the colour, clarity and overall quality of your diamond. You will also find most diamonds have the certificate number laser inscribed on the girdle of the diamond. This is to allow you to be sure the certificate you have been provided with is definitely for your diamond.

What is the best metal for an Engagement ring?
Engagement rings are a piece of jewellery that in most cases is worn everyday. This means you need something to stand up to everyday life. A silver engagement ring may give you the colour of metal that you like, however sterling silver isn't hard wearing enough to stand up to heavy wear. It is also not strong enough to hold your diamond securely enough to keep it safe should it be knocked.
If you are looking for an engagement ring which is silver in colour I would always recommend Platinum. This is because it is hard wearing, hypoallergenic, and because it is a naturally white metal it won't require maintenance to keep its bright white colour, unlike white gold which requires rhodium plating.
If you are looking for an Engagement ring which is gold in colour I would suggest 18ct gold. This is because it is made from 75% pure gold, unlike 9ct gold which is only made from 37.5% pure gold, with the majority of it's ingredients made from other metals. 18ct gold has a beautiful warm colour and rarely causes any reactions to the skin. The diamond in an 18ct yellow gold engagement ring will usually be set in a platinum setting to enhance the white colour of the diamond, however there are cases when setting a stone in yellow gold works better - such as setting a yellow diamond. This option is personal preference and you can choose what you prefer.
Will I see my diamond before it’s set into the ring?
Yes, once your diamond has been selected, I’ll share details of the stone with you, including its certification, and in many cases a video so you can see how it looks in real life before it is set.
Each diamond is chosen individually to ensure it meets the quality and appearance you would expect. It will be certificated by GIA for your peace of mind.
